Real Florida Guide Creator – Matt Clark

I’ve always loved exploring Florida’s swamps and streams and springs. Growing up in central Florida I had no shortage of access to them. As I’ve grown older, traveled, seen places considered among the most beautiful in the world… I’ve come to appreciate Florida’s unique ecosystems even more, and on a deeper level. After studying Biology at University of Florida and spending years working in ecotourism with some of the premiere eco-tour providers in the state, I realized that no one is catering to those seeking a private guided experience that won’t break the bank. Soon after, I started Real Florida Guide.

What’s the purpose of this Real Florida Guide?

To provide opportunities for people who appreciate spending time in nature, or would like to appreciate spending time in nature, that focus on spending quality time in some the most beautiful places in Florida. I aim to not only introduce more people to the great outdoors of Florida, but to share my love and appreciation for our unique and imperiled ecosystems.

Who is Real Florida Guide for?

Anyone who wants to explore more and really get to know the awesomeness that is natural Florida. All ages and kayaking-experience levels are welcome!

What will we do on your tours or at your events?

Especially in the summertime, to me, Florida’s greatest places to explore are water-centric. All of my tours will focus on exploring a state park or other natural area of Florida by kayak.

Why the free paddling guides?

I understand that not all people are going to be in a position to get out on a tour with me, and that many locals have their own kayaks. For that reason, I provide my Real Florida Guide Paddling Route Guides absolutely free here on this website. If you have you’re own gear, I want you to discover new places, too! It is all about sharing my love for the paddling hobby, and the natural gems still sprinkled throughout this great state.

I am a proud partner with Pakayak, creator of the revolutionary modular 14ft sit-in touring style kayak, the Pakayak Bluefin 14. These are the boats used on my tours. The Bluefin 14 is an amazing boat, and is suitable for most paddlers. For optimal comfort and stability, I recommend a maximum height 6ft, and maximum weight of 250lbs.

Have you used one of my paddling routes to discover a place you may not have otherwise ventured? If so, please consider donating a few bucks to keep my paddling route guides detailed, up-to-date, and FREE for all!
